2024 New Disc Golf Courses Designs

The year 2024 is off to an amazing start, and we’re thrilled to unveil our plans for four exciting new disc golf courses that the DGDG team is designing and bringing to life!

First up, we have Blackwood Farm in Orange County, North Carolina—a stunning 32-acre expanse boasting elevations, creeks, wooded areas, and open fields. Our proposed design for this destination course is currently under review by the Park and Orange County Government staff. We’re eager to break ground and make this course a reality this year!

Next, East Flat Rock Park in Flat Rock, North Carolina, offers 16 acres of rolling hills, mature oaks, a creek, and a perfect blend of open and wooded holes. Thanks to the efforts of lead designer Jay McCarthy and a few members of the Western North Carolina Disc Golf Association that joined the DGDG team for this project, the 9-hole course already has baskets installed and features two tee pads per hole, along with three practice baskets. This disc golf course has turned out to be a true gem and is already getting excellent reviews.

Moving on to Berkeley Mills Park in Hendersonville, North Carolina—this competitive 18-hole course set amidst mature pine trees and scattered hardwoods will truly test your disc golf skills. Our disc golf course design incorporates multiple basket locations, tee pads, and seven holes in open grassy fields. The signature hole will play over a quarry lake. We’re currently clearing fairways and then will be finalizing basket locations and tee pads with the goal of making this course playable before year’s end.

Last but not least, Tyron Park in Gaston County, North Carolina, will host another competitive 18-hole disc golf course featuring a mix of pine and hardwood trees, complemented by several creeks and unique undulations. Thanks to the efforts of the G-Town Disc Golf Club, fairways are being cleared, and hopefully nine holes will be playable by this summer.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates from the DGDG team! We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunities we’ve been given and for the hard work of all the dedicated disc golf volunteers who continue to fuel the growth of this amazing sport. We appreciate each and every one of you.
